Exploration of human-altered space, the ever-changing urban landscape and their relation with nature are the main areas of focus in Piotr Darecki’s work. Deriving from the realm of documentary, architectural and street photography, while using the black and white film as his medium of choice, he developed a distinctive aesthetic and style. Minimal human presence (often limited to objects), constant search for occurring patterns combined with a topographic approach and the timeless feel of the black and white are the common motifs of his work.
Born in 1989 in Warsaw, Poland he grew up witnessing the momentous transformation of the city and country which influenced his way of seeing. Studied political science at the University of Warsaw and photography at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw, shortly after he began pursuing personal projects alongside with commercial work and photojournalistic assignments.
Currently resides in Berlin and is available for international assignments.
